"I have spent my 6 years in this school and I have to be honest, its an amazing school. I'll also have to disagree with some points here. First of all, someone here has stated that a student popped their knee while climbing 6 flights of stairs as a punishment from the teacher. Personally, its a pretty tall building, 5 levels in total and I climbed these 5 levels up and down multiple times daily and it really isn't that big of a problem. There are schools taller than Ai Tong so I find it quite fine. And as for the punishment, this doesn't happen a lot. Actually, it basically never happens. However some teachers may do this when a class is too noisy when going through corridors and is disturbing the other classes. While this may not be the best way of learning, it has a purpose of teaching the students to be considerate. And this punishment is the last resort as well, there are multiple warnings beforehand. And as for values, they teach it a lot, like they reinforce the values every term, there are literally mascots for values. And no, they don't put fear into students. As for the shouting, it's most likely the student is not paying attention in class or is misbehaving. Different teachers have different strictness though so I must say some of them can shout quite loudly. As for picking up students, parents are not supposed to go into the school to pick up their children. They are supposed to wait at the gate outside of school and if their child has not come out and the parent is worried, they could tell the staff working at the gate. There are daily announcement reminders as well, to make sure the students are considerate in public areas like the MRT, but if the students still act as such, it is entirely the student's choice.
Ai Tong is an amazing school and they listen out for feedback on how to improve the school, if it is reasonable, it will be taken into consideration. Ai Tong also has a lot of activities for the students over the years. For example, Learning Journeys or Values in Action. There are even chances to go to other countries! They have a lot of different varieties of classes after school as well like BiCEP (Bi-Cultural Election Program) and Thinkers Program. Overall, I feel that Ai Tong lets students have fun and lets them experience a lot of things during the school years. I also think their teaching is really good and I have understood everything my teachers have taught me."
